Kākāriki Organics
logo + packaging design

2022

For this project, I have created a refined and dynamic packaging design that caters to my target audience of 20-30 year-olds, (not gender-specific) who care about the environment.

My creative direction was to “create a sophisticated packaging design for a soap bar that speaks
to the natural aspect of the product. the design will have a strong organic feel that is less raw and more refined to maintain a sense of maturity and 'cleanness'”

Most organic/natural soap packaging is very raw and simple with brown card and minimal design which I wanted to deter from to create something more unique with the same organic feel.

I have used the name “Kākāriki Organics” for the project as I wanted the product to relate to and honor its Māori background as Kawakawa is traditionally used (in soaps or otherwise) as herbal medicine given from the land of Aotearoa. The logo I created uses illustrated leaf elements to
push the feel of nature. I have composed these in a very balanced, unique, and more detailed
way that would cater to my target audience.

A unique element of this design is the cut-out holes in the kawakawa leaf that reveals the soap inside. This is a visually interesting design choice that will draw in the target audience and also
gives the product more accessibility, allowing the customer to smell and see the product which could convince more people who pick it up to actually purchase it.
