For this project I have created a bold & dynamic soap box design that caters to my target audience of 20-30 year olds (not gender-specific) who have a care for nature and organic products. I have used elements of illustration, composition, type and a distinct colour scheme to achieve a unique and striking look that appeals to my audience. 

 

My creative direction for this project was “to create a bold and unique packaging design that is eye-catching and speaks to the organic aspect of the product. The design will incorporate a sense of playfulness that makes the design feel youthful and uplifting. I will use illustration and hand-drawn text elements to achieve this bold, organic and playful look and feel.” which I feel I fulfilled quite well.

 

I wanted the design to have an eye-catching and captivating look as most existing soap box designs within the context can be quite dull and minimal which is not as interesting to my target audience.

 

I leaned into the nature related aspect quite heavily in the design to honour the key ingredient of the Kawakawa plant and push this organic eco-friendly appeal.

 

I was very inspired by the rich greens and intricate textures of the kawakawa leaf and have incorporated
these within my design to relate to my creative direction and uplift the use of the kawakawa plant within the product. 

 

I have created a unique cut-out element on the right face of the box with the text “made with (love) in Aotearoa” where the heart reveals the soap inside the box. Using a cut-out makes the 3D design very dynamic and unique and allows the audience to see and smell the product inside giving a more authentic and tactile feel to the product.
